Confusion With Entity Relationship...

Avatar

Dear Mam,

Your method of teaching is awesome including the ER Diagram. But I am confusing about the relationship between two entities.

I am trying to create a Shoe Shop Management System ER Diagram. The entities which are including are that Shoe, Category, Cart, Order, Shipment, Payment. But I fall into a problem with the relationship between Order & Payment.
My question is, Order & Payment is Different Entity or Payment as an Attribute of an Order?

What can I do Mam? 😊

Thanks, Anis for your question.

You will only take the entity 'Payment' when there are multiple payments or installments made for an order.

In your case, the scenario is to order a shoe which is a one-time payment, this will then be considered as an attribute in the entity 'Order'.  Hope this answers your question.

Dear Anis,

I have checked your ERD diagram.

The cart information is stored in the order entity.

The cart feature is the work from the interface of the system. The entity holds permanent data. No temporary data will be withheld by the entities.
The final cart information is actually stored in the order entity.

When an order is delivered, usually one person is responsible to deliver it. The relationship between employee and shipment needs to be changed.

Please make the changes according to my feedback.
